So, aside from the fact that everything has been crazily busy since I got here, Cali is great. It's been awesome to share a place with Kai and Mowi and not have to worry about jumping back on a plane. The LARP was awesome, and even the convention was fun, despite hotel chaos. I haven't really had -time- to be homesick, though I have already been missing people. I can't say I've been disappointed in the slightest to be out of the Keys, but I do miss everyone. Especially Aya. I miss my parents, too, but it was definitely time for me to break out on my own, get out of the house. It's not as though they were oppressive or any such nonsense, but they were still parents, and I was still clinging to their hands a little. I miss the boys a little bit, but I almost never got to see them, as it was.
Getting used to the valley has been a little interesting. It's not as though it's an amazingly difficult place to navigate, but compared to the Keys--which has one road running north to south--it's been something to get used to. I have not, amazingly, gotten lost yet. Which says a -lot-. I think I've just been more determined to pay attention because I -know- this place is different. And it's home, so I -need- to figure it out. It's all amazingly more convenient than the Keys. There's SO much more in the way of places to eat, places to get my oil changed, places to grocery shop, pet places to get stuff for the girls, bookstores, etc... It's pretty strange to hear "Where do you want to eat?" and actually have an array of different kinds of restaurants to choose from. A very nice change, though. I've been enjoying it.
The only complaint I've had thus far is that the air conditioning is out in the house, but we'll supposedly have a guy over to look into that today. And honestly? It's not that bad. If we had lost our air in Key Largo, we would have been looking for somewhere else to stay until it was taken care of. It's not comfortable, but it's not miserable, either. Possibly because we can leave the windows open without being concerned about mosquitoes and palmetto bugs. Seriously, where the fuck did the bugs go? I've seen nothing but ants thus far.
As I mentioned earlier, I have a temporary job. I'm working with Kai at the furniture store. I apparently -am- going to be working sales, which makes me a little uneasy since I know very little about furniture. I'm learning, though. And it's only got wooden, primarily unfinished furniture, so it's mostly just learning wood types and finishes, etc. Kai and Wayne (the boss) have both been really patient and helpful, which makes a difference. And everyone there is friendly and easy-going, which makes an even bigger difference. So, it's a paycheck for now, until I find something I prefer. I will probably be looking into bookstores, since that's what I have the most experience with.
By the way, the cross-country trip? Rocked pretty damn hard. I'm still amazed that I spent four days in the car with three other people, and there was never any arguing or fighting. Even when poor Mowi was trying to sleep and I was bored out of my skull and kept harassing her. XD It was pretty cool to watch the terrain change as we drove. Seriously, it was different every day. Monday we went from the Keys to the tip of Alabama, so it was pretty much all Florida, which I was familiar with. Day two, we went through Mississippi and Lousiana, then into Dallas, so it was mostly country roads, etc. And crazy rainstorms, but that's another story. Day three was pretty much just Texas, and the very beginning of New Mexico, so it was a lot of rolling hills. Day four was the fucking desert. XD New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Scrub lands and desert until the last couple of hours before we got home.
I did, however, get to see Wolfy!
I think that's all for now. Kai should be home soonish, and I am absolutely starved. And need to get the oil in my car changed. So I shall go. But I figured I'd throw a post up here about how things were going, and to let you all know that I'm alive! <3

Heheh, can't wait to have a good 'ol chat with you. The job sounds interesting, it's always fun to gain a hell of alot of information that will be completely useless once you've left the job. ^^ I know -way- more about kitchenware than I ever wanted to know. Hey, you can help me in the future when I want to buy a nice wooden dining table or somthing *grins*.
^^ Anyway my love, I've been thinking of you. Keep smiling and keep having fun in your new place! Love you too much and always, your Sarah.

Friendly, active, and fun, every day we rise to the challenge. Why not come and see for yourself?
And isn't it great? With not being swarmed by masquitos every night? I miss the North. Y_Y Though, the West-North is probably a bit diffrent from the East-North.
Luffs yah!
Love you, mate!
